A classic of the hobby, Melopoeus albostriatus (Thai Zebra) is an overall black tarantula adorned with bold yellow leg stripes and a distinctively striped abdomen -- one of the reason spiders of the genus are called Earth Tigers. A fast, defensive fossorial species from the rainforests of Thailand, it digs burrows over a foot deep and should be left undisturbed once settled. Iconic, striking, and always in demand -- a staple no serious collection should be without.
